We always anticipate our calendar filling up as the weather gets warmer, and this May was no exception. Not only did we manage wonderful events across the Northeast, we also celebrated our President Dusty Rhodes being recognized by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Now without further ado, let’s recap May 2024!

Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce

On May 2, we helped the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce produce its Annual Meeting for 1,500 attendees. Instead of our President Dusty Rhodes helping manage the event, we were excited to celebrate her as she was one of the night’s three inductees into the Academy of Distinguished Bostonians!

Please join us in wishing Dusty a huge congratulations!

The Baker SuperK Walk, Roll, and Fun Run

We kicked off Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week at The Baker SuperK Walk, Roll, and Fun Run on May 4. This one-of-a-kind event is held by The Baker Center for Children and Families to support and celebrate children’s mental health. Attendees dressed up as superheroes and flew down and back along the Charles River Esplanade course before celebrating at Fiedler Field.

The Walk for Hunger

The 56th Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 5 was a huge success for Project Bread and their mission to end hunger in Massachusetts. The walk was a three mile loop around Boston Common and raised funds for feeding programs, community engagement, and advocacy to reduce food insecurity in Greater Boston. Conventures managed many of the event’s details and we’re thrilled we could be a part of an event with so much history.

NACD NJ Director of the Year Awards

Conventures was on the ground in West Orange, New Jersey on May 6 to orchestrate the NACD New Jersey Chapter 2024 Director of the Year Awards. The annual event recognizes and honors directors who have contributed significantly to the public, private, and nonprofit boards they serve. Our team helped produce the reception and speaking program for hundreds of attendees.

Bridges Homeward Turns 150

Conventures teamed up with Cambridge-based Bridges Homeward to help produce its 150th Anniversary Celebration Gala on May 9 at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. The event featured live music and entertainment, a live auction, great food, and stories of impact. Support of this year’s gala will help youth in foster care find permanency, families access crucial resources, and individuals with developmental disabilities thrive in their communities.

Duckling Day

Conventures and The Friends of the Public Garden had our ducks in a row on May 12 for Duckling Day. Held each year on Boston Common, we celebrated the classic children’s book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey with activity booths, lawn games, magic, and live music all at Parkman Bandstand. This was our first year producing the Mother’s Day tradition with The Friends of the Public Garden and we were excited to bring it all together for hundreds of guests.

National Brain Tumor Ride

For the third year we teamed up with the National Brain Tumor Society for the National Brain Tumor Ride on May 19. In recognition of Brain Tumor Awareness Month, the ride raises awareness about the impact of brain tumors on patients and their loved ones. Conventures proudly produced the pre-event planning, festival, and ride course management for the ride across all 62 scenic miles.
