Conventures 2023 Wrapped!

By December 14, 2023Year in Review

With the end of another year coming, we wanted to bring you Conventures Wrapped—a look into some of our 2023 highlights!

Our event schedule is always such a joy to reflect upon with many exciting and fulfilling events hitting their goals. We are so fortunate to work with so many great organizations, from vendors to clients, partners to colleagues, our year would not have been nearly as exciting without them, and we are beyond grateful.

We can’t wait to jump right into 2024!

The Ocean Race Cabo Verde

This January 20–25, the Conventures team was on location in Cabo Verde to welcome The Ocean Race to the second stop on its around-the-world voyage. This year, 2023, marked the 16th edition of the race.

About 500 miles off the coast of Senegal, the island of São Vicente served as a perfect stop for the epic event. Gathering in the city of Mindelo, The Ocean Race represented the largest sporting event ever to visit Cabo Verde. The Conventures team prepared with both The Ocean Race and Cabo Verde leadership for several years on the event’s land and water operations.

South Boston Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

For the first time in the parade’s century-old history, Conventures ran all the logistics and operations for the 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston on March 19. The team managed nearly 4,000 parade participants, leading them through the streets of South Boston in front of more than half a million spectators.

Sail Boston® 2026 Kickoff Announcement

On September 27, we had the honor to announce the return of the Tall Ships to Boston, starting the countdown until they return to our Harbor! We were joined by Mayor Michelle Wu, Representative Aaron Michlewitz, and Sail Boston’s Board of Directors who helped to announce the Sail250® Tall Ships tour in 2026.

Boston 10K for Women™

The Boston 10K for Women presented by REI returned for its 47th running in October. With more than 4,000 registrants, the race is New England’s largest and most historic all-women’s sporting event. With tons of activations at Boston Common and a scenic course through Boston and Cambridge, thousands of runners enjoyed a day of strength, speed, solidarity.

Boston Children’s Hospital Corporate Cup

Since helping to form the event in 2016, Conventures has driven the competition and helped boost the fundraising of the Boston Children’s Hospital Corporate Cup. This year, 64 corporate teams participated in a variety of athletic and mental challenges across a hot July afternoon. In the end, one team won the cup, but collectively, these teams raised almost one million dollars for the life-saving care and research at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Enterprise Research Campus Groundbreaking

After years of planning, ground was finally broken on Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus in Allston. November 1 marked the beginning of the ERC’s construction, and all of Harvard Allston Land Co. and Tishman Speyer’s hard work coming to fruition.

Located across from Western Avenue from Harvard Business school, the ERC will be a vibrant new part of the Allson community and neighborhood. We were grateful to help celebrate this new chapter.

Boston Marathon Expo

As nearly 30,000 runners descend on Boston with their families and fans, the Boston Marathon Expo is a must-visit spot for pre-race energy and gear. This year’s expo ran for three days before the historic event on Marathon Monday. For more than 40 years we have been proud to organize the Expo, welcome the world to Boston, and collaborate with The Boston Athletic Association on hosting this impactful event.

Boston Harborfest

Another proud Boston tradition is Harborfest! One of the country’s finest Fourth of July festivals, Harborfest celebrates Boston’s maritime and revolutionary history, hosting hundreds of activities over Independence Day weekend. These activities take place all around Boston at various iconic and historic landmarks.

Spectacle on Spectacle

Taking place on Spectacle Island, Conventures had a spectacular night with Boston Harbor Now! Funds raised from this event help ensure Boston Harbor and its waterfront and islands are accessible and inclusive, while also advocating for essential climate resiliency measures to safeguard our communities from the impacts of climate change.

Gala on The Greenway and Glow in the Park

Joining forces with the Greenway Conservancy, we helped host two cornerstone events for their organizational development—Gala on The Greenway and Glow in the Park. Gala on The Greenway brought together Greenway Conservancy’s community of donors, friends, and neighbors for an engagement and celebration. The next night, Glow in the Park was a young adults’ networking event that included live music, lawn games, and food trucks. Funds raised at The Greenway events supported Rose Kennedy Greenway, a jewel of our city that connects neighborhoods once divided by the Central Artery highway.
