Holiday happenings and one big night – December wrap-up

By December 20, 2019August 1st, 2023Monthly Recap

The Conventures team was in full holiday-mode this month. With a holiday-themed 5K, three Christmas parties, and an ugly sweater contest, there was definitely no shortage of holiday spirit for us.  And of course, Boston’s biggest countdown continues as we plan  for New England’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration, First Night Boston 2020!

Happy Holidays from Conventures!

We’re dashing through the snow!

Our team donned our best ski gear and braved some pre-dawn chill to set up Boston Common for the Special Olympics Massachusetts Jolly Jaunt 5K. Runners jingled their way through the streets of Boston in holiday-themed costumes to raise money for local Special Olympics athletes. Conventures helped with site set-up, race registration, and in-race logistics for nearly 800 registrants. Congratulations to all of the runners!

A trio of holiday events

We began December by helping produce The New England Council’s holiday party at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The Conventures staff checked all guests in and managed the arrival process for hundreds of guests. It was a great way to begin a very festive month!

The holiday spirit continued in Worcester at Mercantile Center’s holiday tenant event. Tenants gathered to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies in the 100 Front Street lobby, while prizes were on the line for the ugliest holiday sweater.

We wrapped up our holiday party planning with The Chiofaro Company at International Place for their annual holiday tenant appreciation event. With delicious packed lunches in hand, building tenants enjoyed Boston Ballet perform scenes from the famous The Nutcracker in the International Place lobby!

Bringing our media management skills to Worcester

The past few weeks featured two exciting announcements from our friends at Mercantile Center.

First up, Mercantile Center helped reveal the Worcester Red Sox much anticipated new nickname, The WooSox. The announcement was carried live on NESN and grabbed a lot of viewer attention and excitement. Conventures was happy to support the Worcester Red Sox, Mercantile Center, and the media that covered the event.

Next up, Mercantile Center announced that Boston-based Broadway Hospitality Group will open a 500-seat restaurant at Mercantile Center. Expected to draw a great deal of foot traffic and excitement, it’s scheduled to open in early 2021, across from Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, which will open in late 2020.

Looking ahead to First Night Boston

Our team is stacking up the noisemakers for First Night Boston. This will be the 44th annual First Night Boston celebration, and will be covered live on the NBC Boston family of networks (NBC10 Boston, Telemundo, NECN). First Night has been a proud tradition that was started here in Boston and has now been replicated in other cities and towns across the country. With ice sculptures, pyrotechnics, music, and more than 12 hours of programming, we’re lining up all the moving parts to ensure this year’s event will start 2020 off with a bang!
