When did you start working here? And B.C. (Before Conventures) — work, school?
I have been helping out at Conventures events for as long as I can remember! I am a very proud graduate of the University of New Hampshire where I was lucky enough to explore my interests in hospitality and sports media relations. I also made some of the best friends I still have to this day who do not judge me for answering their post 9:00 PM text at 5:15 AM the next morning when I am headed to a work out. However, when I think about my B.C. life, I often reflect on my time at two of the most influential business group organizations in the city, Meet Boston and A Better City. I wore many hats in both roles, I worked with membership account management, executive meeting and event planning, marketing, and business development.
What piece of advice would you give someone just starting out in events? Anything you wish you’d known?
Be brave enough to ask clarifying questions, take good notes, and do what you say you are going to do. Give grace and learn from mistakes (no matter if they are yours or someone else’s).
If you could work at any major event in the world, which one would you choose and why?
The Great World Race seems like a pretty wild and unique way to see the world and experience event production in drastically different climates, complex logistical and operational planning, and environmental considerations.
What’s your number-one, must-have item at all events?
Good, reliable gear. From a trusted pair of heels to a Gore-Tex rain jacket. Also, a full water bottle and a pair of comfortable shoes for the car ride home!
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
My husband and I are lucky enough to have just gone to Japan this spring and Iceland last fall. There are so many beautiful and interesting places so it is hard to pick just one! Lately, I have been really keen on getting to Switzerland and Northern Italy.
What are you currently watching, listening to, or reading?
I just finished the latest season of Hacks. Pretty much every day starts with WBUR, and for the rest of the day, it’s either Las Culturistas or Table Manners, which is a delightful podcast that interviews guests over thoughtfully-made meals and discusses dinner table traditions. I am always reading something, so just ask!
And finally, give us one of your pre-event hype up songs.
