USS CONSTITUTION Bicentennial Salute

USS_CONSTITUTIONAmerica's favorite ship, "Old Ironsides", celebrated her 200th birthday with Conventures at the helm. As the country's oldest commissioned warship, victorious in battle on many occasions, including the War of 1812, she merited a celebration in which "Boston Welcomes the World".

Response:

Conventures formed a volunteer Salute Committee comprised of business and community leaders to oversee the four day celebration, that included a Bicentennial Oration, a Crew Party, the Boston Harbor Parade of Lights, a Boston Pops Concert, a Reception for visiting captains from around the world and a Salute Luncheon featuring HRH Prince Andrew of Great Britain. Gray hull naval ships came to Boston to pay their respects and were open to the public. Conventures also coordinated the sponsorship funding through corporate patrons, donors and sponsors.

  • Millions of visitors participated in one or more of the public activities surrounding the Bicentennial Salute.
  • Local, regional, national and international media coverage was achieved.
